Cloning Karl

It isn't as though one wasn't enough! It seems Herr Doktor Karl Barth has been cloned and - shudder - he's now a Missouri Synod Lutheran.

My equilibrium was shattered today by this blog entry by LCMS administrator Paul McCain. Could it just be an insider joke, a clever pre-April 1 cover piece?

Apparently not. This one has an honorary degree.

The bio of Barth II can be found here. I'm currently wrapped in a thermal blanket and sipping Steinlager as I attempt to adjust to the shock.

Being a Missouri Synod source, there is no reference to Dr. Karl's more (in)famous namesake, the Great Old Man of Twentieth Century Reformed theology.

And fair enough I say, one of the few occasions I can bring myself to agree with Rev. McCain.

It could be worse.

It could have been the goose stepping Wisconsin Synod!
