While the history of this development is likely more complicated and less conspiratorial than Ehrman’s model indicates, his two volumes do allow readers to work through the textual evidence and make up their own minds about it."&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;If there was anyone promoting  the existence of a widespread proto-orthodox conspiracy before the Council of Nicea, it was HW Armstrong. &lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;Then again, I don't recall any specific references to Bauer's "Orthodoxy and Heresy in Earliest Christianity" in Hoeh's so-called "True History of the True Church. Or, for that matter, Dean Blackwell's eminent research on the same subject.&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;Such influentials as Bauer can be rather difficult to for the COGs to assimilate.
