Who wouldn't want to throw off their "bonds" and embrace such freedom-giving views?

Before the "reformation" a heretic was a heretic, and a sect was a sect. Unbelievably, the sects that broke from Catholicism were viewed as "new branches" of Christianity. Insanity. Why not? Probation is your reward for being on probation and enduring until the end of it? Makes about as much sense as anything else dreamed up by Xian clergy. The enforcement of hierarchical church governance, I believe, is an artifact of denominationalism. Humans always seem to organize this way. Even Quakers, for all their belief in equality before God, in the early days had Monthly Meetings that passed judgment on all kinds of human misbehaviors.

Armstrong taught that we would all be Kings and Priests and "God as God is God" but none of that was ever reflected in the sociology of the WCG. Instead a rigid caste system was in place and it was asserted that this was the same caste system that would be in place in the Kingdom
of God. HWA and the ministry would always be on top. Laymembers, I suppose, were to be minor priests of some sort. Big gods telling little gods what to do.

I like Lutheranism because of the positive presence they have in our community and because a few of their theologians espouse Future Probation.

-- NeoAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08487906691943831671noreply@blogger.com
