Some would go so far as to insist no gods exist but, to me, that's not far enough... I would insist that nothing supernatural exists except in the mind of a person who wants to believe in it. It's an unfalsifiable claim, true enough, but so is supernaturalism. Since there is absolutely no evidence of anything supernatural, people should not make the claim that there is, especially to the point of threatening condemnation (or torture and murder) of people who don't believe the claim.Corkyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15894537940881776504noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-52912413020249030.post-56604782452056274942015-02-01T04:12:07.642+13:002015-02-01T04:12:07.642+13:00If one is embarrassed admitting affiliation with C...If one is embarrassed admitting affiliation with Christianity/Islam these days (and who wouldn't be),
look into some of the more 'cool' alternatives becoming popular like the Kabbalah and Zoroastrianism:
- no guilt or taboos and you just might get to meet Madonna!Minimalisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07394978086891772878noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-52912413020249030.post-68293542697999719152015-01-31T04:16:00.799+13:002015-01-31T04:16:00.799+13:00This is completely reasonable: Someone who sees ho...This is completely reasonable: Someone who sees how preposterous the belief system is but longs for the social context.

And after all that's said and done, isn't most religion just a social context?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-52912413020249030.post-21477260479234935902015-01-30T06:19:44.700+13:002015-01-30T06:19:44.700+13:00Isn't "atheist theologian" an oxymor...Isn't "atheist theologian" an oxymoron?larryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11207263922457941293noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-52912413020249030.post-49171957524375809342015-01-29T08:03:50.744+13:002015-01-29T08:03:50.744+13:00I most definitely am referring to atheistic fundam...I most definitely am referring to atheistic fundamentalists, as I thought was pretty clear in the context, along with their opposite numbers. I think on subjects like these - perhaps especially on this one - one needs to be able to disagree without being disagreeable. Ranting has a place, but it quickly becomes tiresome and irritating if overused.Gavin Rhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17965552923012880262noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-52912413020249030.post-33659336581392069802015-01-29T04:51:17.395+13:002015-01-29T04:51:17.395+13:00I always felt that atheism was a religion.
It ...I always felt that atheism was a religion.

It is puzzling that you regard this unusual viewpoint as a contribution to rational discourse and then characterize those who believe with the statement "moving beyond the barricades and the cheap 'talking points' that characterises the all too common sniping from the cheap seats." At least, I don't think you are referring to your atheistic friends in this statement. Just so we understand the context for such statements about "objectivity".

-- NeoAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08487906691943831671noreply@blogger.com
