Jim West, Gideon and Maxwell Smart

"And loving it!"
It has been 'a long time between drinks', as the saying goes. In this case, a long time between postings. Life has been busy, and even a tad stressful, as is often the case at this time of year, and I frankly haven't felt much motivated to rattle the keyboard beyond what has been absolutely necessary for work commitments.

But Summer is here - almost - with apologies to Northern Hemisphere readers who are regrettably stuck in a seasonal mirror universe. I know I'm starting to unwind because this past weekend a sinfully sizeable chunk of personal down-time was spent watching old episodes of The Wild Wild West and Get Smart.

"And", as Agent 86 was wont to say, "loving it!" The Sixties might have been dire, but I was just a kid, and the television was great!

Be that as it may, "Gideon", whoever he (or she) might be, has been on my case with relentless submissions about someone else's comments on another website altogether. Painful but true, if you get my gist (let the reader understandeth). If I had a buck for every comment he's fired off I could probably retire early. Alas, only one has squeaked through. Sorry Gid, but I can't find the material you keep endlessly complaining about, and not once have you bothered to supply a link. Ah well...

Returning to The Wild Wild West, a parenthetical thought. Isn't there something Garner Ted-ish in the Jim West character (as portrayed by a young Robert Conrad)? The piercing eyes, the nonchalant poses, the dapper good looks, and let's not forget the womanising. I wonder if GTA was a fan of the show?

Anyhow, as the paperwork begins to slowly subside, and the countdown to the Summer break edges ever closer (currently 32,562 minutes away, but who's counting?) it is increasingly possible that some activity might return to this blog, though I confess to having thoroughly enjoyed the break from theological conniptions and the wacko WCG in its scattered bits and pieces.

  2. Glad to see you back. I had begun to think something unfortunate and disastrous might have happened to you.

  4. Yep, have emailed you. NOT as much as you socially engineered: your text! You can find BBOB's apologies for WW2 Nazis on Jame's website: Painful Truth, that is he + BB haven't wiped it! It's WITH BBOB's EXPLANATION ABOUT HOW THE ROMANS WERE REALLY GOOD FOR THE NATIONS OCCUPIED BY THEM. You'll need some patience to sift through the stuff there! ...
Please educate me: what is your belief system? Are you Roman Catholic, Protestant, Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Wican, agnostic, atheist--what? I realize you're ex WCG.

    1. Gid, I don't have the time or patience to sift through a site like this, you need to send a link. Just copy and paste the address on your browser into an email.

BTW I'm not impressed by requests for personal information from persons who are hiding behind anonymity themselves.

  5. Ok Gavin-understood. Checked out that site again, limited time. It appears they've wiped my questions which resulted in BB's apology for WW2 Nazis. Although I may've not found it due to the plethora of 'stuff' + limited time. It does appear tohave been wiped. BB's a commentator on Otagosh + other websites, this type. Suggest folk text his comments recipient sites + plain ask him about WW2 Nazis, I've been vetoed, blocked, barred from Painful Truth + Silenced. Probably will be here to? Have found the most intolerant folk in dbates/discourse etc are Athiests + Religionists, as opposed to Christians......Cheerio!

  6. This is ridiculous! People on these blogs and forums have known me for 13 years, and I have never been in any way an apologist for the Nazis. Neither James nor the people at Silenced have wiped my comments. Clearly, someone is suffering from some sort of confusion.

    1. I have to stick up for Biker Bob here. I've interacted with Bob quite a bit both on this forum and the original Painful Truth forum. To my best recollection, I have never once heard Bob say anything remotely pro-Nazi. Or anything at all related to Naziism, for that matter.

    2. Thanks, Skeptic. The fact is, the Nazis were yet another of HWA's boogeymen. From the time I attended SEP the first year in Texas right up through my tenure at Ambassador College, we were shown shocking films of the Nazi death camps as part of the fear campaign supporting HWA's false prophecies. We were also shown the documentary "Trial at Nuremberg", and film footage of Hitler's speeches and reviews of his goose-stepping, jackbooted troops. Plus, some of my years in public high school were spent in a largely Jewish community, where my very best friends were Jews. I met people who had survived the holocaust, and still had their death camp numbers tattooed on their wrists. I personally believe that someone in a very cold and calculated manner picked something they knew that I hate, and attempted to amuse themselves with it at my expense. I appreciate your support.

    3. Notice how Germany continues to grow stronger and have more influence as USA grows weaker? Scary--huh?

  7. This is odd.
A few months ago on another blog, someone claimed (among other strange and untrue accusations) that I was a Holocaust denier.

I occasionally have 'face-palm moments' when others elucidate on what they think my beliefs and/or motives are.

  8. Norm. When the fire and the 'joints' low, ruminate on this: philosophers study more and more, about less and less. Till eventually, they know all about nothing!

  9. I concur with the assessment that, "...there something Garner Ted-ish in the Jim West character (as portrayed by a young Robert Conrad)"

I don't know if GTA was a fan of the show, but perhaps you can ask Mark at THE INTERGALACTIC CHURCH OF GOD(or whatever it's called), since GTA seems to be alive and well, there.

    Here's a bit of synchronicity-
Early this morning I watched a 1959 episode of Highway Patrol on TV, which had a young Robert Conrad playing the bad guy.
Art Gilmore was the narrator on Highway Patrol, and most reading here remember his voice from the WCG's 'The World Tomorrow' programs.

BTW, how could The Wild Wild West or Get Smart ever match the excitement of the supermarionation series Supercar?
