Internet radio? Gotta love it. Number one in an occasional series of personal favourites is Rag FM, based in Raglan, a small seaside community on the west coast of New Zealand's North Island. While my poison is invariably classical, this is an oldies, country format that provides light relief.
The guy who designed their website should be shot for crimes against web design, but if you look past that, it's all good.
I have sampled four random listening sessions of this station, noticed a very mellow bias to format, did not catch any classic-country or 1950s pop.
ReplyDeleteNZ commercial FM had similar genesis to UK: progress was forced by initial pirate broadcasting. This means they beat Australia to the punch with FM even though Australia mimicked the USA in commercial AM & TV.
Their site has a picture of the actual FM transmitter (only the size of a stereo amplifier - perhaps 100W power)
